Bengaluru, Dec 28: Medical Educaton Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil has questioned the enigmatic silence of BJP leaders on senior BJP leader Basavaraj Patil Yatnal’s serious allegation of Rs 40,000 crore scam during the Covid pandemic period under the B S Yediyurappa regime.

The silence of BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J P Nadda, on the sensational charge of Yatnal against the alleged loot of government by the Yediyurappa regime to the tune of Rs 40,000 crore raises ‘serious doubts’ as to whether the State and National BJP leadership has had a ‘’share in the loot.’’

Patil said Yatnal has provided the proof of the Congress party’s charge against the BJP and the Basavaraj Bommai rule regarding collecting 40% commission and wondered why the BJP has maintained ‘enigmatic silence’ over the serious charges levelled against Yediyurappa regime.

“Yatnal has been an union minister and is a long standing BJP MLA. His charges against the loot of government funds to the tune of Rs 40,000 crore during the management of the Covid pandemic cannot be dismissed lightly,’’ the minister said.

Taking potshots at Modi, the minister recalled that the Prime Minister had attracted huge media publicity by declaring himself as a ‘chowkidar’ and pompously announcing that, ‘Naa Khavoonga, Naa Khaane Dhoonga’, and has remained silent when his own senior party leader has come out with the serious charge.

The minister said, ‘’Yatnal, who had served as union minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee regime, should take his allegations to its logical end and must release the documents.’’

“If Yatnal does not prove his charges or fails to release documentary evidence, it will amount to mere publicity stunt and hit and run instance,’’ Dr Patil said.

He warned that Karnataka voters were watching the developments and would teach a befitting lesson to BJP in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

Incidentally, BJP leaders B S Yediyurappa and Basanagouda Patil Patil Yatnal as well as Medical Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil belong to the politically powerful Lingayat or Veerashaiva community.

Why doesn't Congress Govt -- investigate -- who are now in power at least in STATE --and if the charges are true to put behind bars all the scamsters -- Congress was voted for these and other issues -- 40 % -- Pay CM --+ Hindutva politics of BJP --+ + minority bashing - - So, it appears Congress approach is very feeble -- People /Voters want strong and decisive leadership -- not cry from roof tops --
