Mangaluru, Dec 29: In total, 341 people were subjected to Covid tests in Dakshina Kannada on Thursday. Out of them, eight people have turned positive for Covid.
Out of the eight, four are from Mangaluru, three from Bantwal and one from Beltangady. One is getting treated in the ICU, while six are under house monitoring and one is admitted to the hospital.
As per the target given by the state government, 392, 335 and 341 people were tested for Covid on December 26, 27 and 28 respectively. As the cases of JN.1 variant of Covid are increasing in Kerala, special monitoring is being undertaken in Dakshina Kannada.
Many students of Kerala origin, who had gone to native for Christmas holidays are returning back to the city. They are being monitored specially by the health authorities.
Instructions are already sent to various departments and educational institutions to bring to the notice of the health department any cases of Covid or ILA symptoms in students. The institutions are asked to isolate the concerned student or students immediately.
