St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute conducts ‘Smash Show’ inter-trade tournament

Mangaluru, Dec 31: Inter-trade volleyball and throwball match ‘Smash Show’ was held on December 27 at 9 am in the college ground. Inter-trade Cricket Tournament ‘Bat Ball Battle’ was held on December 28 at 9 am in St Aloysius College Centenary Ground. The volley ball match was held for 14 teams and the throwball match was held for two teams. The cricket match was held for 14 teams. The chief guest for the volleyball and throwball tournaments was Prasad K, president of Real Estate Group, Mangaluru.

The chief guest for the cricket tournament was Naveen Rasquinha, president, St Aloysius ITI Alumni, Mangaluru. Fr John D'Souza SJ, director of St Aloysius ITI was the president of the programme. Roshan D'Souza, principal, Alwyn Menezes, vice principal, Kiran D'Souza, convener of the programme, Melro Tony D'Souza, sports secretary and N Shashank, president, Student Council were present for the programme.

The programme commenced by a prayer song which was led by MRAC first year students and Electronics Mechanic second year students. Benjamin Ankith Vegas, student of MRAC first year and Muthu, student of Electronics Mechanic second year welcomed the gathering. The inauguration of volleyball tournament was done by unveiling the ribbon tied to the volleyball ball by the chief guest. The inauguration of cricket tournament was done by cutting the ribbon by the chief guest.

The chief guest Prasad K spoke a few words by wishing greetings of the season.

In his presidential address, Fr John D'Souza SJ said that, “Make use of the opportunity that is provided to you. Even sports is a part of academics and it is a part of our life. He wished all the best to the players.”

The chief guest Naveen Rasquinha addressed the gathering by saying that, “I have come here not as a chief guest but as a part of this institution. Nowadays there is a good opportunity for an underarm cricket match, you all should make good use of it. He wished all the teams all the best.”

Mechanic Diesel and MRAC first year were selected for the volleyball tournament finals. The toss was won by MRAC first year team.

Darshan, student of MRAC first year and Johnson, student of Electronics Mechanic second year proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Jaison Paul, student of MRAC first year and Privisha, student of Electronics Mechanic second year. The commentators for volleyball tournament were Wilson N, JTO and Shreyas, JTO. The commentators for the cricket tournament were Majid Mallur and Shameer Malar.

The referees for the volleyball match were Eshan Colaco, Sufiyan, Thoushir. The referees for the cricket match were Rayan, Roshan and Vijith.

The results of the Volleyball match are as follows:

Winners - Mechanic Diesel
Runners - MRAC 1st year
Best All-rounder - Adhish Kottari, Mechanic Diesel
Best Smasher - Adhish Kottari, Mechanic Diesel
Best Lifter - Jaison Paul, MRAC 1st year

The results of the Throwball match are as follows:

Best Thrower - Navyalakshmi, Electronics Mechanic 1st year
Best Receiver - Merita Dsilva, Fashion Designing
Best All-rounder - Rafiya, Sewing Technology

The results of the Cricket match are as follows:

Winners - Auto Service Technician Batch
Runners - Field AC Technician Batch 1
Best batsman - Basil, Auto Service Technician Batch
Best bowler - Bhavish, Field AC Technician Batch 1
