Mangaluru: Kambala held with grandeur at Gold Finch City

Mangaluru, Jan 1: Mangaluru, Jan 1: The vibrant celebration of Kambala unfolded in all its glory at Gold Finch City, located in Bangrakulur, on Sunday, December 31. The event featured photography contests, colour koota, and Reel competitions as integral components of the Kambala festivities.

The inauguration of the Kambala took place at the Late Ratna Madava Shetty dais at 8:30 am. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Sri Basavamurthy Madara Chenniah Swamiji of Chitradurga Madara Chenniah Peeta, who had the honor of inaugurating the event. Dr. Tukarama Poojary, the president of Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre Bantwal, presided over the program. The lamp-lighting ceremony was conducted by K Chittaranjan, the president of Kankanady Brahma Baidarkala Garadi. Swami Jeetakamanandaji of Ramakrishna Math and Rajashekarananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Math were among the dignitaries present.

The event witnessed the participation of prominent figures such as Prakash Shetty, the Chairman of MRG Group, national BJP Yuva Morcha leader MP Tejasvi Surya, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Speaker U T Khader, BJP state secretary Capt Brijesh Chowta, BJP leader C T Ravi, and MLAs from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

Eight pairs of buffaloes took part in Kanehalage, four pairs in Addahalage, 22 pairs in Hagga Hiriya, 29 pairs in Negilu Hiriya, 26 pairs in Hagga Kiriya, 81 pairs in Negilu Kiriya took part in the Rama Laxmana Jodukare Kambala. In total 170 pairs of buffaloes took part in the competition.

In Kanehalage first prize was bagged by Bolar Trishal K Poojary. Byndoor Mahesh Poojary touched the plank. Second prize was won by Belady Bawa Ashok Shetty. Thekkatte Sudhir Devadiga touched the plank.

In Addahalage, first prize was won by Bolar Trishal K Poojary. Savya Gangaiah Poojary touched the plank. Second prize was won by Mangaluru Kambalabimani Vakeela Vrinda. Bhatkal Harish touched the plank.

In Hagga Hiriya section first prize was bagged by Nandalike Srikant Bhat A. Bambranabailu Vandith Shetty was the jockey. Second place was won by Nandalike Srikant Bhat C Kavoor Dota Sudarshan was the jockey.

In the Hagga Kiriya section, first prize was won by Suratkal Panchajanya Yogish Poojary. Mastikatte Swaroop was the jockey. Second place was won by Saligrama Karkada Puttu Hollaramane Nataraj Holla. Jockey was Panapila Praveen Kotian.

In Negilu Hiriya section, first prize was won by Boladaguthu Sathish Shetty B. Byndoor Vishwanath Devadiga was the jockey. Second place was bagged by Hosmar Suryashree ratna Sadashiva Shetty A. Jockey was Byndoor Manjunatha Gowda.

In Negilu Kiriya section, first prize was bagged by Kateel Kinnigoli Prakhyath Praneet Shetty. Mastikatte Swaroop was the jockey. Second place was won by Moodubelle Javaner. Hirebettu Pradeep was the jockey.
