New Year's altercation at Beltangady: Friend bites nose in heated dispute

Beltangady, Jan 2: In an unfortunate incident at Pilya on Sunday night during the New Year's Eve party, a heated altercation resulted in a man being bitten on the nose by his friend.

The victim, Deekshit (28), a resident of Ulpe in Pilya village, was involved in the altercation with his friend Rakesh. The accused, Rakesh, originally from Moodigere and currently residing with relatives in Pilya, works at a local shop.

Late in the night on December 31, a group of youths, including Deekshit and Rakesh, consumed liquor. The disagreement over a trivial matter escalated, leading to Rakesh biting Deekshit's nose.

Following the incident, the seriously injured Deekshit received initial treatment at Beltangady government hospital before being transferred to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for further medical attention.
