Udupi, Jan 2: On New Year's night, authorities seized one car and eight motorcycles after individuals were found causing a nuisance by haphazardly parking vehicles and disrupting public order.
Sub-inspector Raghavendra C and his team from the Manipal Police Station took action on January 1 at 12:30 am during special rounds for New Year's celebrations. Approximately 7 to 10 individuals were riding cars and two-wheelers on Manipal road, creating an unlawful assembly. A motorbike was ridden in a way that emitted sparks from its silencer.
Engaging in dangerous, reckless, and negligent driving, endangering other riders and drivers, stopping vehicles in the middle of the road while intoxicated, disturbing public peace, and obstructing traffic flow led to the filing of a suo moto case under IPC sections 147, 279, 290, and 149. The police conducted an investigation, reviewing video footage from social media to identify the accused.

Wed, Jan 03 2024Seems the police department worked 'specially' for that night only .... in the garb of getting some freebies, goodies etc. The remaining days of the year - what and where they are should come out from their own mouths.
