Udupi, Jan 6: Pura Pravesh of Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Puttige Math from Jodukatte to Krishna Math and various cultural events and felicitation of civic committee by the Udupi district administration, Udupi City Municipality and Puttige Paryaya welcome committee has been organised on January 8 and Puttige, Vishwa Gita Paryaya on January 18.
Dr H S Ballal, president welcome committee, in the press meet was held on January 6 at Puttige Math said, “This is the fourth Paryaya of Puttige Swamiji. Pura Pravesha of Puttige Swamiji will take place from Jodukatte on January 8 at 3.30 pm. The invitation has detailed information about all events. The detailed direction of the route of procession is given in the invitation. The civic committee will be felicitated after the procession reaches the car street on the day. The welcome committee will felicitate and welcome the swamiji.”
Ragupathi Bhat, working president welcome committee gave detailed information about the Paryaya event and said, “The welcome committee have conducted meetings with various associations and they have agreed to welcome swamiji with various cultural tableaus related to Bhagvath Geetha on Paryaya. All community people will be present in Purapravesha and various cultural activities and felicitation of the civic committee will take place. Lakshmi Hebbalkar, minister of women and child development of Karnataka, Shobha Karandlaje, minister of state in the ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare of India, Veerendra Hegde, nominated member of Rajya Sabha will preside over the event and Veerappa Moily, former chief minister of Karnataka will be participating in the felicitation ceremony of the civic committee.
From January 9, offerings by various associations will be arranged in the afternoon. Siddaramaiah, chief minister of Karnataka has been invited for evening darbar on January 18. From January 18 to 23, various darbars will take place in the evening. The national highway from Karvali to Manipal and from Ambaji to Kalasanka is decorated with lights. Four acres of land has been arranged to preserve the offerings. People can see all the offerings there. Donors will be blessed by the swamiji with Manthrakshathe in the same place. Various cultural activities will take place in car street and from January 20 to 23 in Rajangana.”
Devi Prasad Shetty, secretary welcome committee said, "Devotees from various parts of the world will be attending the Paryaya. The offering will begin from January 9 to 17, and various temples, associations and organisations are providing offerings. The entire Udupi is decorated with colourful lights. This is the biggest feast for the people of Udupi. We request everyone to decorate their shops, house with colourful lights.”
Various cultural activities will be held at Ananda Theertha Matapa and Rajangana in the evening from January 8 to 24.
