Mangaluru, Jan 13: Naringana Kambala festival identified as the government Kambala of Ullal taluk, Mangaluru Vidhan Sabha constituency was inaugurated for the second year in the Lava Kusha twin fields, Morla Bola here on Saturday, January 13.

Brahmashree Uchilathaya Neleshwara Padmanabha Tantri who inaugurated the festival after lighting the lamp said that the agricultural tradition of Tulu land is unique. "The Kambala that is attached to agriculture and culture here has received recognition at the national level as a proud art. It is a matter of pride that Government Kambala is taking place in the spacious land at Naringana. Kambala is a symbol of culture. Let it rise to greater heights,” he said.

Puttur MLA Ashok Rai said that Kambala is being praised in India and abroad. “Young community is attracted towards it and are rearing buffaloes. Rs five lacs are approved by the government for it under the department of tourism. There are demands to identify those who rear buffaloes and make them run. The government will encourage them in the future,” he said.

Kambala committee honorary president Venkappa Kajava Mitrakodi, leaders Gunapal Kadamba, temple leader Pramod Rai, Gunakar Alva, Sudhaker from Kurnaduguthu, priest Raghavendra Achar, Kinya Guthu Narayana Shetty, Vasumoolya Panolibail, Navaneet Shetty Kadri, Neelaksha Karkera, Prasad Rai Kallimar, Rajesh Shetty Mumbai. , Manmohan Konde and others were present.

Recipient of Dakshina Kannada Rajyotsava award and social worker Padmanabha Naringana and social worker Ravindra Shetty Muniyal were felicitated.

Kambala committee president Prashanth Kajava welcomed and gave a keynote address. Sathish Pundikai and Abdul Razak Kukkaje compered the programme.
