Kundapur, Jan 15: In a distressing incident at Beesinapare, within the jurisdiction of Kollur police station under Jadkal gram panchayat (GP), a gang assaulted Chandramohan Naik, a member of the Beesinapare ward, accusing him of a minor vehicular incident. The assault occurred on Sunday evening when Naik was filling diesel in his jeep at a petrol pump.

Reportedly, Naik's jeep brushed against a parked bike at the Idoor Kunjadi petrol pump. Despite Naik's immediate apology, the bike rider escalated the situation, responding with verbal abuse. Subsequently, Naik returned home. To his dismay, a group of 35 individuals invaded his home a short while later, subjecting him to a severe assault and issuing threats on his life. Additionally, the assailants reportedly directed casteist slurs at Naik during the attack.

The severity of the assault left Chandramohan Naik seriously injured, and he has been admitted to Kundapur government hospital since the night of the incident. Kollur police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
