Mangaluru: Konkan Railways collects over Rs 5.6 crore from ticketless passengers in three months

Mangaluru, Jan 16: Konkan Railway authorities are actively conducting ticket checks on trains, ensuring the proper documentation of passengers. In December 2023 alone, officials collected Rs 1,95,64,926 from 6,675 passengers found traveling without a valid ticket.

Over the three-month period from October to December 2023, Konkan Railway ticket collectors gathered a total of Rs 5,66,99,017 from 18,446 passengers who were detected without valid tickets.

In light of these actions, Konkan Railway authorities are urging passengers to travel with valid tickets to avoid any inconvenience during their journey.

    This is because people don't get tickets and due to urgency the only option is to go without a ticket and pay fines of about 3 times a ticket. because they won't deboard you if you go without a ticket.

    Good work done. But why restrict to only three months. What about the rest of the months of the year. Let this checking be on war footing every day so that this Chalta Hai attitude disappears in the Konkan Railway Route.

    Ticketless travel is a right for people in UP Bihar area for decades. Fines are only for South Indian travellers. If you leave your reserved seat in UP, Bihar it will disappear instantly. What hypocrisy.

    i agree 100%..travelled from Kharagpur to Delhi many years ago...TC came only once...i got down at Raibareli to have breakfast...when I came back one family of baniya occupied my seat and gave me place to park just one side of buttock....this is the reality...but andh bhakts will not agreee..they just do guna gaana...similarly...south and western states like maharashtra send highest revenue to central govt..but what they get in grants is pittane...but mamus of car street wont agree
