Mangaluru, Jan 16: Activists of DYFI gheraoed Ullal police station in protest against registering case on their leaders who protested against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat.
The activists first held rally from Mastikatte to Ullal police station and later surrounded the police station.
The activists of DYFI raised slogans saying that the police are acting as agents of RSS and MLA.
Addressing the "Ullal Police Station Chalo" protests, which included a siege to the police station at Ullal against the registration of a suo moto case against DYFI leaders for protesting against Kalladka Bhat in front of the Ullal police station, DYFI district president Muneer Katipalla said, "The police, under the government and the constitution, are acting like traitors. The department that registers cases for peaceful protests is supporting illegal businessmen and criminals. We will hold protests at the police commissioner’s office if the patience of the national party is tested."
“It appears that we are still under British administration to prevent protests in front of the police station. Police should note that ours is a democratic nation, and the government works under the constitution. Mangaluru police commissioner stops protests due to a lack of knowledge of the law. DYFI will give proper answers along with the working class and farmers. We have come in large numbers to protest and will provide names of the protesters if you want to arrest them. Why are the police, who are registering cases against peaceful protesters, not registering a case against communal Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat? Is he above the constitution? A suo moto case gets registered when MP Anant Kumar speaks against the chief minister. But no case is registered against Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat even after speaking against all the girls in the Muslim community.”
“Our party has paid PF and bonuses to lakhs of women rolling beedies. DYFI does not need the lessons of history. Kalladka Bhat does not have the capacity of CPM leader Krishnappa Salian. UT Khader, MLA of Ullal, and state speaker is an expert in uniting all. DYFI activists know how to run buffaloes also. The government that does not act against furious speakers changes the road for Shaurya Yatre. Though the government is not supported by Bajrang Dal, the atmosphere is embarrassing,” he said.
CPIM leader Sunil Kumar Bajal, DYFI district president B K Imtiaz, secretary Santhosh Bajal, Ullal taluk president Razak Montepadav, and others were present.
Huge presence of police prevented any untoward incident. The station personnel locked the police station to prevent and ensured safety.
