Mangaluru: St Aloysius Gonzaga School students bag laurels in swimming, cricket

Mangaluru, Jan 17: Saatwik Nayak Sujir, a class 9 student of St Aloysius Gonzaga School, participated in the 34th South Zone Aquatic Championship 2023 organized by the Karnataka Swimming Association under the aegis of the Swimming Federation of India and the Karnataka government and secured 4 golds, 3 silvers, and 1 bronze. 

The event took place from December 27 to 29, 2023 in Bengaluru at the Basavangudi swimming pool. The championship featured participants from southern India, representing five states and two union territories, highlighting the swimming prowess of individuals in the South Zone. 

Rennell Pais of Class 9 participated in the ICCA Champion Trophy 2023 (under 15) held in Sri Lanka from December18 to 27, 2023 and scored 350 runs in 7 matches and was awarded ‘Best Batsman’. He received the award from the former Sri Lankan player Sanath Jayasurya. The teams from Zimbabwe, UAE, Sri Lanka, and India competed in this prestigious tournament and Rennell played for the Indian team which won the runners-up trophy.
