Mangaluru, Jan 18: "The Hindu Mahasabha has played a main role in the struggle of Ayodhya Ram Mandir. But the central government has not invited us yet. We genuinely believe that Ram Mandir is merely a political gimmick of the BJP for the upcoming elections,” said Rajesh Pavithran, state president of Hindu Mahasabha Karnataka on Thursday January 18.
Addressing media further, L K Suvarna, state president, Hindu Mahasabha Karnataka said, "The temple is incomplete and performing pooja in an incomplete temple is against our culture. There are many practices which are not being done in a systematic order. The BJP is doing this only to claim victory in the next elections in the name of Lord Ram. I would like to say that Lord Ram is for everyone and we have always represented the Hindus. When cases were lodged against Ram Mandir supporters in the past, the BJP never came to their rescue. And due to Ram bhakts like us, the Ram Mandir is being constructed today.
“We knew it from the very beginning that the BJP will hold the inauguration ceremony of the Ram Mandir just before the elections. But there was no need to hurry and inaugurate a half-completed temple. Even Shankaracharyaji has expressed his thoughts regarding this. It feels like they are trying to win in the name of Ram. If we do not obey them or do not listen to what they say, they will start to lodge false cases on us and put us behind bars,” he said.
When queried on Hindu Mahasabha organising an event on the same day, he said, “We are organising this event to honour those who have fought for this cause and since a temple is finally being constructed, we are holding this event.”
Hindu Mahasabha Karnataka also announced that pooja and celebration will be held at Lakshmi Narayan temple, where they will felicitate the kar sevaks for their support.
Himanshu Sharma, Praveen Chandra Rao and other office bearers of Hindu Mahasabha Karnataka were present.
