Mangaluru, Jan 19: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner Anand C L said that criminal case will be filed against offenders who display banners, cut outs, buntings and flex without prior permission from the MCC, which causes mishaps or accidents.

In a publication the commissioner said, “It is observed that unauthorised banners and buntings are installed by some private individuals and advertising agencies for commercial purposes on road side. This causes inconvenience to pedestrians and vehicle riders and drivers. These banners, cut outs etc may cause accidents and electrocution also. The police department has raised objection of these banners causing law and order issue and leading to untoward incidents.

“There are 1084 banner boards on government and private land under the MCC limits. These can be used for advertising purposes. If accidents and loss of lives occurs due to the installation of unauthorised banners, criminal action will be taken against those who are responsible,” the commissioner stated in the publication.

Good initiative but have serious doubts on honest n impartial implementation... MCC is a corrupt organization from top to bottom... Politicians in it are pakka time servers and paid officials have ascended straight from Patala Rakshasa Loka... First let them sort out waste collection trucks/pickups bought only to rust in the laydown area....
