Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School observes National Youth, NCC Day

Mangaluru, Jan 19: NCC cadets of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru celebrated National Youth Day and NCC Day on January 12 in the school auditorium. Cadets Sakshi and Akshara escorted the chief guest Lt. Col Gracian Sequeira along with vice principal Sr Therese Teena with the NCC flag holder Cadet Harshith into the auditorium.

The celebration commenced by invoking god’s blessings and special prayers were offered for all army personnel and youth of our nation. Cadet Samarth welcomed the chief guest and others, coupled with classical welcome dance by a group of cadets.



The programme included drill, discipline and entertainment, highlighting the responsibility of every youth in our country. The significance of the day highlighted all the 3 defense forces - Army, Navy and Air force. The importance of girl education was well depicted by the cadets through a dance drama on Savithribai phule and Fathima Sheikh.

The chief guest Lt. Col Gracian Sequeira, A/O 18 Kar NCC Bn felicitated the ‘A certificate’ holders of NCC and wished them well for their future. Further speaking, he urged every cadet and the students to give importance to character building, positive personality and become empowered youth of the nation.

Vice principal Sr Therese Teena in her message reminded every student the quote of Swamy Vivekananda, “Take risks in your life, if you win, you can lead, if you lose, you can guide” and called everyone to take risks in life and to be Young, Outgoing, United, Truthful, and Humble.

The programme was concluded with a note of gratitude by cadet Kevin Kushalappa and by singing the NCC song in unison.
