Udupi: Free healthy aging awareness, screening programme at Dr TMA Pai Hospital on Jan 23, 24

Udupi, Jan 20: The Dr TMA Pai Hospital in collaboration with the Centre for Studies on Healthy Aging and the Manipal College of Health Professions, have announced a significant initiative for the senior community.

A free healthy aging awareness and screening programme tailored for older adults, aged 60 and above, will be hosted from January 23 and 24. The programme will be from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at 3rd floor of Dr TMA Pai Hospital, Udupi. 

This event spans two days and includes an educational talk titled 'Healthy Aging: What, Why, and How?' scheduled between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM. The programme also offers comprehensive health screening services covering vision and hearing tests, memory and mental health evaluations, fall risk analysis, diabetic foot screening, and functional ability assessments. On Wednesday, January 24, there will be free bone mineral density (BMD) testing facility available too.




Dr Shashikiran Umakanth, the medical superintendent of Dr TMA Pai Hospital, and Dr Arun Mayya, dean of the Manipal College of Health Professions and Dr Sebestina Anita D’Souza, co-ordinator, Centre for Studies on healthy Aging, MAHE have highlighted the importance of this initiative: “As we age, maintaining health becomes paramount. This program is not just about screenings; it's an opportunity to educate and empower our seniors to embrace a healthier lifestyle. We invite all eligible individuals to take advantage of these valuable services.”
