Udupi, Jan 20: Pangala Gopalakrishna Nayak (92), son of senior Indian freedom fighter Lakshminarayana Nayak of Katpadi Nayak clan passed away at his residence here on Saturday, Jan 20.
He was running a well-known Nayak Ayurvedashram and was leading a simple life under Gandhian principles. He was unmarried and was always wearing Khadi clothes, adhering to local food habits and had developed patriotism. He was concerned about birds and animals and had protected trees and saplings as a lover of the environment in Katpadi. He was fond of Ayurveda and classical music. He was identified in the freedom struggle along with his father.
He has left behind his brother Dr Pangala Seetarama Nayak, two sisters and a large number of friends and relatives. His mortal remains were handed over by his family members to Manipal KMC hospital as per his wish.
Kaup MLA Suresh Shetty Gurme, former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Katpadi SVS Vidyavardhaka Sangha president MD Kini, convener K Sathyendra Pai, Manipal Ranga Pai Katpadi, gram panchayat president Prabha V Shetty and SVS alumni association president Prem Kumar have condoled the death of Gopalakrishna Nayak.
