Mangaluru: Senior music stalwarts honoured with ‘Kadalanaada Sangeeta Ratna' awards

Mangaluru, Jan 20: Senior musicians were honoured with ‘Kadalanaada Sangeeta Ratna' awards at the day-long musical event 'Kadalanaada Sangeethotsava 2024' held at Town Hall on Saturday, January 20.

The United Costal Cultural Forum held the event in association with renowned music directors V Manohar, Gurukiran and Manikanth Kadri.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Zakaria Jokatte, Al- Muzain Group KSA said, “The United Coastal Cultural Forum is a union of musicians, providing a warm welcome to artistes. Living in Saudi Arabia, my Kannada may not be fluent, but when they invited me to this event, I was very happy to contribute to the musical community. I believe in leaving a legacy, urging people to remember and do something that people will remember you. I aspire to witness Mangaluru's development to the level of Goa and Switzerland. Events like this should be organized regularly to support musicians."

Walter Nandalike, founder & managing director, Daijiworld media said, “Today, five exemplary individuals have been honoured for their musical contributions. Music has played a great role during the challenges of the Covid pandemic, providing comfort and connecting hearts.

We have grown up listening to the music of stalwarts who have been honoured here today. The money we had during Covid did not bring us out of depression, but music played a major role in removing sadness. The power of music in connecting to someone's heart is unparalleled."

Actor Aravind Bolar said, "This event holds a special place in everyone's hearts. Felicitating both senior and junior musicians is a great gesture. Their musical contributions are unique and valuable. Musicians face many struggles, and it is essential to understand and appreciate them."

Music stalwarts like Charan Kumar, Vasant Kadri, Aamir John, Eric Ozario and V Manohar were honoured with the title of ‘Kadalanaada Sangeeta Ratna' and were felicitated for their contributions in the field of music.

Later, a Rasamanjari programme was held led by Gurukiran and Manikanth Kadri with renowned singers and background musicians. Besides, a patriotic group singing was arranged by talented singers of Dakshina Kannada district.

The chief guest of the event was Prakash Shetty, chairman, MRG Group, K K Naushad, chairman, United Costal Cultural Foundation, singers Sambhram Sridhar and Anuradha Bhat, actors Srinagar Kitty, Pruthvi Ambaar and Roopesh Shetty film director Nagasekhar and others were present.

Chethan Shetty and Sharmila Amin compered the programme.
