Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 22: The twin districts were abuzz with joy as the idol of Lord Rama is consecrated on Monday, January 22 in Ayodhya's Ram Mandir. The auspicious occasion was marked by a series of events across Mangaluru city and Udupi.

In Mangaluru, at Venkataramana Devasthana in Dongarkery, the day started with morning chants and continuous recitation of the divine name of Ram. Devotees gathered for the grand Yajna dedicated to Rama in the divine presence of Lord Venkataramana. From morning till night, the air is filled with the melodious recital of the Maha Mantras, echoing the devotion of Ram bhakts. Special prayers resonate in all Ram and Hanuman temples, creating an atmosphere of spiritual celebration in the city.

Prominent figures, including Nalin Kumar Kateel, former state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), witnessed the inauguration of Ayodhya's Ram Mandir, adding prestige to this auspicious ceremony. The live streaming of Ayodhya's inauguration is also held at Kateel Durgaparameshwari Temple, bringing devotees together. The former BJP state president, Nalin Kumar Kateel, oversaw the event, emphasizing the importance and significance of this historic moment.

The celebration extends to Kalkura Pratishthana, where Mangaluru pays tribute to Swami Vishwesha Teertha of Pejawar Mutt, a prominent figure in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir movement. Events commenced at Kudroli Temple and Vishwesha Teertha Vedike in Kadri Kambala, symbolizing a vibrant commemoration.

Public tributes include the lighting of a hundred lamps and the recitation of Ram Raksha Stotra by devotees. The maritime celebration of Ram is evident as boats set sail from Mangaluru with Lord Ram's flag raised, accompanied by continuous chanting of Ram's name.

In the Dakshina Kannada district, devotees engaged in special prayers at Kateel Durgaparameshwari Temple, Kadri Manjunatha Swamy Temple, and all Ram temples, creating an atmosphere of devotion throughout the day. Mangaluru City and Udupi rejoice in unity, marking this historic day with reverence and celebration. 

In Udupi, Sri Krishna Math is abuzz with celebrations on account of Pranapratishte of Ramlalla in Ayodhya. Suvarna Kavacha Alankara Seve was held for deity Lord Sri Krishna. Paryaya Puthige Math held special Alankara Seve for the deity Hanuman's idol, which has arrived from Ayodhya. Silver idols of Lord Ram and Seeta were seen on the chest of Lord Hanuman.

Special Alankar pooja was offered for Lord Mukhyaprana carrying Lord Rama and Seeta. Thousands of devotees thronged Sri Krishna Math. Ramotsava will be held throughout Monday, January 22, at Sri Krishna Math.

Puttige Swamiji flagged off the Ramotsava, and a non-stop bhajan program was inaugurated at Madhwa Mantapa of Sri Krishna Math. Sushindratheertha Swamiji took part in the program, with MLA Yashpal Suvarna and Ram Bhakts present.

Fruits distributed in district hospital

Fruits were distributed in a hospital in Udupi under the leadership of Congress leader Krishna Murthy Acharya to celebrate the joy of Ramlalla in Ayodhya.
