Trinamool Filling Key Educational Posts with Cronies: Left

Kolkata, Sep 16 (IANS): West Bengal's opposition Left Front Friday accused the Trinamool Congress-led state government of filling key posts in educational institutions with people close to the party.

"The way the state government is dissolving elected educational bodies is not right, Left Front chairman Biman Bose told mediapersons here after a meeting of front partners. "Rumours are being spread that the previous Left Front government created 'particracy' in educational institutions. This is a total lie."

He described as "shameful" the way the Trinamool was roping in people close to the party in various educational bodies. "A college principal is also heading the Primary Education Council. How is it is possible? Is it democracy," Bose asked.

"The principal of another college is being appointed as chairman of the School Service Commission at the same time," Bose said. "In the guise of democracy they are imposing particracy. The students will protest against it."

Bose also alleged that the state government was trying to adopt industrial policies on the advice of the various chambers of commerce and industry.

"The gist of the advice of these houses is how to curb the democratic rights and impose restrictions on democratic processes," Bose said. "We will protest against this."

Bose announced that the Left Front will launch a six-day protest Sep 19-24 to against the petroleum price hike, price rise of essentials and corruption of the central government.

Bose also mocked the state government for not setting the priorities for all party meetings. "An all-party meeting has been called on hoardings in Kolkata but no such meeting was called on the issue of Indo-Bangladesh Teesta water sharing Treaty, Gorkhaland and other important issues," he said.
