Mangaluru: Pedestrian fatally struck by bike while crossing road

Mangaluru, Jan 22: A tragic incident unfolded late on Saturday night near Ambika Road on NH 66, as a pedestrian lost his life when hit by a bike.

The deceased, Janardhana Acharya (45), a resident of Madoor, was originally from Amblamogaru but had been living in Madoor since his earlier employment at the Karavali Credit Cooperative Society in Thokkottu. At the time of the accident, he was working as a security guard.

The rider, Kiran, a resident of Ombathukere, sustained serious injuries and is currently hospitalized.

The impact of the collision threw Janardhana onto the divider, causing severe head injuries that proved fatal on the spot.

A case related to this incident has been registered at the Mangaluru South Traffic Police Station.

    NH pedestrians should have better bypass facilities. Santhekate has become world famous as a death trap, also NH without any option not only for pedestrians but also motor vehicles which need to cross.
