Udupi, Jan 22: A collision between two fishing boats occurred at the Malpe fishing port, leading to an altercation between the personnel of the involved boats. The helmsman of one boat was assaulted during the confrontation that ensued after the collision.
The Bhagyanidhi boat, after emptying its fish cargo, was heading towards Baputhota Dhakke when it collided with the Himagiri boat. Following the collision, Sandeep, the helmsman of Himagiri, entered the cabin of the Bhagyanidhi boat and assaulted the helmsman, Maruti. He also attacked other personnel of the Bhagyanidhi boat who tried to rescue Helmsman Maruti.
Maruti, the injured helmsman of the Bhagyanidhi boat, has been admitted to the hospital. A case related to this incident has been registered at the Malpe police station.
