Kundapur, Jan 23: In an innovative initiative during the Road Safety Week at Shastri Circle, the traffic police organized a special awareness drive for vehicle drivers. To emphasize the consequences of breaking traffic rules, a 'Yama' costume actor joined the police officers, distributing flowers to drivers as a reminder of the deity associated with death.

CI Nandakumar, SI Vinay Kumar Korlahalli from the city police station, traffic SI Subbanna, and other police personnel actively participated in this awareness programme. The event focused on educating drivers about the dangers of boarding or alighting before the vehicle comes to a complete halt, the risks of using mobile phones while driving, driving on prohibited roads, and the importance of avoiding excessive horn use.

Handouts containing vital information were distributed, and a public address system mounted on an auto-rickshaw was utilized to effectively communicate road safety messages to the public. This creative approach aimed to instill a sense of responsibility and promote safer driving practices among the community.
