Mangaluru, Jan 23: The Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Mangaluru has announced the names of the beneficiaries of annual all India level Vimala V Pai Konkani literary award 2023, Basti Vaman Shenoy global Konkani Service award 2023 and Dr P Dayananda Pai global Konkani award 2023.
‘Pooran’, the work by Goa-based author Pariyanker has been selected for the Vimala V Pai Konkani literary award for 2023.
‘Chaitra Kavita’, a collection of poems by Kerala-based Konkani author and poet, R S Bhaskar has been selected for best Konkani work during 2023.
The veteran Konkani artist of Goa, Ramanand Raiker has been selected for Srimati Vimala V Pai Konkani Siddi award – 2023 founded to honour the elders who have contributed in a special manner for the growth of Konkani language, literature and culture.
In the women’s division, Bengaluru-based Shakuntala A Bhadarkar, Metamorphize Service Organisation has selected for Basti Vaman Shenoy global service award – 2023.
In the men’s division, Manjeshwar Snehalaya Charitable Trust’s Joseph Crasta has been selected for Basti Vaman Shenoy Konkani service award – 2023.
Ramesh Lad from Goa has been selected for Dr P Dayananda Pai global translation award – 2023.
Srinivas Rao (Kasargod Chinna) has been selected for Dr P Dayananda Pai global Konkani drama award 2023.
All the seven awards carry a cash prize of Rs 1 lac and a plaque. The awards will be presented during the annual global Konkani valedictory ceremony at the Vishwa Konkani Kendra on February 11 at 10 am.
Four Konkani dramas will also be performed at T V Ramana Pai auditorium, Mangaluru from 5 pm to 8 pm on February 10 and 11.
The Konkani Bhas and Samskriti Prathistana was started by Vishwa Konkani Saradar Basti Vaman Shenoy in 1996 at Shakti Nagar, Mangaluru. It has been conducting programmes for the growth of Konkani language, literature, culture and the all-round growth of Konkani communities.
