City of Taj Shaken by Blast, Three Injured, High Alert Sounded

Lucknow, Sep 17: The city of Taj, Agra was shaken by a blast on Saturday evening, in which three persons were injured. The city limits have been sealed with high alert sounded in whole of Agra.

As per reports, the incident occured in Jai Hospital situated at NH-2, near Bhagwan Talkies at around 5:40 pm on Saturday. The blast occured at the reception of the hospital. The blast was so severe that glass panes of the hospital were scattered upto 20 metres. Whole hospital was engulfed in smoke while everyone ran helter and skelter for their lives.

Senior police officials including IG PK Tiwari, DIG Aseem Arun reached the spot and the hospital was vacated. The injured were rushed to nearby Pushpanjali Hospital. Dog squad was pressed into service while teams of STF, LIU, Bomb Disposal Squad all reached the scene. As per reports, the remains of the bomb blast were being analysed to ascertain the type of blast. Some wires were also found from the remains.

Later, police launched a massive checking drive at all the hospitals in Agra. High alert was sounded while markets, malls, railway station, bus station and other prominent areas were sensitised by heavy police force. All the entry points in Agra are now being guarded by police.

IG PK Tiwari admitted it to be a bomb blast. The spot has been sealed.

A team of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) has been rushed from Lucknow.
