Mangalore: Fisherman Drowns at Sea

Mangalore, Sep 19: Chandraiah Amin (65), who was working for a purse seine boat about 30 nautical miles away from the fisheries port here, lost his life after an accidental fall on Sunday September 18. He is survived by wife, a son, and a daughter.

Reportedly, he got entangled in the net the fishermen of the boat, ‘Sri Ganga Devi’, had spread. The body of Amin was brought to the city on Sunday evening.


The boat with 28 fishermen on board had left for fishing at 5.30 am. At around 1 pm, Chandraiah slipped and fell off the boat, when he and other fishermen of the boat were spreading the net. Two divers jumped into the sea immediately to save him. But he had breathed his last before he could be rescued, it is learnt.
