Udupi, Feb 10: The new campus of Lombard College of Paramedical & Allied Health Sciences was inaugurated on Saturday February 10. Rev Hemachandra Kumar, bishop CSI KSD inaugurated the new campus along with chief guest Vinaykumar Sorake, former MLA, Fr Charles Menezes, parish priest Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi and other dignitaries.
After inaugurating the new campus, Rev Hemachandra Kumar said, "The new campus has been beautifully modified from the old school building. The facilities are up to the level of a multi-specialty hospital. Classrooms, labs, library, and other amenities are above standard. The building, which was previously a school, provided education to many, and today it has transformed into a training institute, carrying forward the motive of its founders. I thank the team of Lombard Memorial Hospital for this. Dr Sushil Jattanna has a clear vision for the future of the hospital."
Vinay Kumar Sorake, the chief guest of the programme said, "Christian missionaries have made excellent developments in education, healthcare, and other allied sectors. Education and healthcare are crucial for society. The paramedical and allied health sciences have commenced today at LMH. The nurses trained at Lombard Memorial Hospital are highly recognized worldwide. We need to emulate the ideals of Mother Teresa for humanity. The CSI diocese has initiated a new service today. If our district is recognized as an education hub today, there is a significant contribution from missionaries in this."
Dr Sushil Jathanna, director of Lombard Memorial Hospital said, "This is a significant milestone in the history of Lombard Memorial Hospital today. This marks our fourth campus. Lombard Paramedical College & Allied Health Sciences is beginning today. My team, my staff, and students are the reasons for all the developments taking place in Lombard Memorial Hospital. Previously, this building was UBMC School, built in 1855. In 1862, a boarding school was also located here. The new building was constructed in 1938. The students of this school were very bright. I thank the diocese for handing over this building to LMH. When we started the redevelopment, many alumni of this school recognized our efforts and requested us to transform this into an educational center. Based on their suggestion, we decided to initiate paramedical and allied health sciences. DMNT, DMOT/AT, DMIT, BSC (MLT) courses are offered in this institution. More courses will be introduced in the upcoming years as there is a huge demand for these professionals. We are not driven by profit motives; our aim is to provide good education and training."
Amrutha Krishnamurthy, councillor; Shabi Ahmed Kazi, president Jamiyyatul Falah Kaup; and Prashanth Jathanna, director Big J Media conveyed their wishes on the occasion.
