Mangaluru, Feb 14: Former MLC Ivan D'Souza announced on Wednesday that a complaint would be filed against MLA Vedavyas Kamath and MLA Dr. Bharath Y Shetty for their alleged inappropriate behavior in connection with an incident at St. Gerosa School, Valencia.
Addressing the media, D'Souza expressed his concerns stating, "Instead of resolving the issue, MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty and Vedavyas Kamath behaved inappropriately over the school incident. Rather than filing a complaint, taking action against the teacher, and probing the incident, the MLAs gathered students outside the school premises, insulted the teacher, and made provocative statements. This is condemnable, and a criminal case should be filed against the MLAs."
Former MLA J R Lobo, also present at the media briefing, emphasized the need for swift action against the accused MLAs: "MLAs have behaved in an inappropriate manner when they should have worked within the limitations of the law. They don't deserve to continue as MLAs."
P V Mohan, another political figure, pointing out that even BJP had MLAs like Yogesh Bhat and Dhananjaya Kumar who never behaved inappropriately, echoed the demand for accountability.
Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Sadashiv Ullal, AC Vinayaraj, Naveen D'Souza, and others were present to address the media.
The call for action against MLAs Kamath and Shetty came from various political figures who criticized their alleged misconduct in handling the school incident.
