Mangaluru: Battery thief arrested, items worth Rs 3.9 lac seized

Mangaluru, Feb 15: Police arrested an accused who stole batteries of vehicles under the limits of Konaje police station.

A case was registered on January 29 about batteries of trucks being stolen. Konaje PSI Ashok, personnel Santhosh, Basavanagowdra and Suresh arrested Riyaz Talapady, a resident of Kelagina Mane, near Kaje, Talapady, from Natekal on February 14. They confiscated the scooter used by the accused in the act and the stolen batteries. The worth of the goods is said to be Rs 3.9 lac.

The operation was carried out as per the guidance of city police commissioner Anupam Agarwal and direction of DCPs Siddartha Goyal and Dinesh Kumar.

The police team was led by ACP Dhanya N Nayak and had Konaje police SI Nagaraj, Punit Gaonkar, Ashok, Yallalinga and personnel Sanjeev, Reshya, Sathosh, Basavanagowda and Suresh Talwar.
