Mangaluru, Feb 16: Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport confiscated gold worth Rs 19.97 lac that was being smuggled by two overseas passengers in separate incidents.

During routine checks, a passenger arriving from Abu Dhabi drew suspicion. Upon inspection, officials discovered 128 grams of 24-carat gold in paste form concealed within a mobile cover, with an estimated worth of Rs 8,06,400.

In another incident on Wednesday, another overseas passenger underwent scrutiny, leading to the discovery of 189 grams of gold paste concealed within an envelope. The gold's value amounted to Rs 11,90,700.
