Doha, Sep 23: Threatre lovers here are in for a great treat. Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ),a premier organization uniting all the Kannadigas settled in Qatar, will be staging popular Kannada comedy play ‘Ondu Aata Bhattaradu’ at Qatar National Theatre Hall at 6.30 pm on Friday September 30.
Yeshwant Sirdeshpande of Guru Samsthe fame and his troupe will be specially flown in to Qatar from Karnataka to stage ‘Ondu Aata Bhattaradu’. Sirdeshpande, a recipient of Karnataka
Rajyotsava award is a popular actor-director. His one-man show ‘Rashi Chakra’ has received huge appreciation from the audience while his play ‘Sahi-re-sahi’, in which he has donned four different roles, was staged in Qatar by KSQ earlier.
Sirdeshpande is not new to Kannada films too. Among those he has acted in are “Amrutadhare”
and Ramesh Arvind’s “Rama Shaama Bhaama”. In fact, Sirdeshpande jointly wrote the script for “Rama Shaama Bhaama” and even helped Kamal Haasan deliver dialogues in the north Karnataka accent. He is the husband of popular theatre and TV actor Malati Sirdeshpande.
Dr Ramanand Shetty, renowned surgeon and Ex-Vice-chancellor of Rajeev Gandhi University of Health Sciences will be the guest of honour.
