Hopeless budget, leaves debt burden of Rs 44K on every citizen: R Ashoka

Bengaluru, Feb 16 (IANS): The budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for 2024-25 lacks commitment and direction, said leader of opposition R. Ashoka on Friday.

"This is a hopeless budget on all fronts and there is no vision for development of the state contrary to what was claimed by the Congress leaders," said the BJP Leader.

Speaking to reporters here, Ashoka said, "This budget lacks foresight, fails to instill confidence in the public and has no new initiatives to address the needs of farmers, women, poor, youth, and industry. It is only decorated with empty slogans and fancy titles. In Siddaramaiah's first term Karnataka's debt rose from Rs 1,39,000 crore to Rs. 2,86,790 crore in just five years.

"The annual interest burden on the state shot up from Rs 8,500 crore to Rs 16,208 crore leaving a debt burden of Rs 44,000 on every citizen. His second term is also pushing the state into a debt crisis.

"Misusing budget speech for political mudslinging is an insult to the constitutional mandate of the government. The shameless act of using budget speech to blame the central government exposes Congress party's existential crisis and reflects Congress' sheer desperation to somehow paint a bad picture of the Modi government ahead of the Lok Sabha polls," said Ashoka.

Remember when you guys started yelling during petrol diesel and gas price hike. You all were screaming you will do anything for Modi. Even if fuel prices go up to a 1000 rupees, you don't care. So now I don't think 44 k per head is big deal for you guys. BJP price hike is for nation building, but Congress price hike is burden to the people.

Do you know to read and understand especially these financial terms??????…….Remember you said during your rule that communalism and religion is more important than development, then where did that allotted money go??????….Your budget is only for communal activities, demolishing minority holy places to build your temples, harassing the minorities and enjoying people’s hard earned tax money with 40% commission top of it. All your projects and guarantees only till election after that they collapse and in ruins.

For 67 years after independence, India had a loan of Rs 55 lakh crores. In Modi's 9 years , he has made a loan of Rs 155 lakh crores. Now total India's loan is Rs 210 lakh crores. See how Modi increased the India's debt. Now each citizen has a loan burden of Rs 1,46,300. How careful our earlier prime ministers, including Atal Behari Vajpayee were in the area of debt on the country?
