Udupi: Adani Foundation extends grant of Rs 1.50 crore to Bharat Scouts and Guides

Udupi, Feb 17: Adani Power Limited of Adani Group, which is operating in Kapu taluk of Udupi district - Udupi TPP, on behalf of Adani Foundation, a CSR wing of Adani Group, extends grant of Rs 25 lac to Bharat Scouts and Guides Dakshina Kannada District Association for the construction of an auditorium. Kishore Alva, executive director and president of Adani Group handed over the grant cheque to Dr M Mohan Alva, chief commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides. 

Speaking on this occasion, Dr Mohan Alva said that till now no private organization has come forward with any grant to Bharat Scouts and Guides organization in coastal area. But today, Adani Group, which is having its presence in coastal terrain with various industries and service operations, has joined the activities of Bharat Scouts and Guides by giving various grants to the scouts and guides organization located in the Udupi, Dakshina Kannada districts. Earlier, to strengthen the activities of scouts and guides in Mangaluru and to provide training to the youth and with the ever-increasing volunteers of scouts and guides, there was a need a closed auditorium and Bharat Scouts and Guides Dakshina Kannada Association had made a request to Adani Foundation for the construction of auditorium. Today Adani Foundation has fulfilled that demand by extending the grant of Rs 25 lacs. 

Dr Mohan Alva expressed happiness that Adani, under its CSR, is implementing many developmental activities in the coastal area for the benefit of society. Adani Foundation has not only extended the grant to Mangaluru division, but also extended the CSR grant to the huge training centre at Udupi and an auditorium in Moodbidri. 

Speaking after handing over the grant cheque, Kishore Alva, president of Adani Group said that Bharat Scouts and Guides is a model organization for the youth and is a source of strength and motivation to the society to involve themselves in social development works. He informed that earlier, Shanta Acharya along with Bharat Scouts and Guides Udupi zonal team had visited UPCL Plant and represented about the Dr V S Acharya Bharat Scouts Guides training center and nature camp and requested for the support for construction of compound wall and security room for the training center for the safety of women cadets. Informing that the training centre was a dream of Dr V S Acharya and the training center caters to the scouts and guides members of Udupi, Mangaluru, Chikamagalur and Shimogga, Alva told that Adani Foundation has constructed the compound wall for the training centre at a project cost of Rs 86 lacs.

In view of the need for a hall to facilitate and train scouts guides volunteers in the surrounding areas of Moodbidri taluk to engage in social work during Covid, Adani Foundation has granted Rs 38 lacs to Bharat Scouts and Guides for the construction of an auditorium in Moodbidri. With this, Adani Group has extended support to Bharat Scouts and Guides at Udupi, Moodbidri and Mangaluru to a tune of Rs 1.50 crores, Alva informed. 

During the cheque handing over programme at the premises of Bharat Scouts and Guides Dakshina Kannada District Association, Mangaluru, youth empowerment and sports department project officer Pradeep, Dakshina Kannada district vice president Vasant Rao, district site commissioner Ramshesha Shetty, district secretary M G Kaje, district joint secretary Jayavanti Sons, Mangaluru north city local body president Srinivas Kini, Mangaluru south city local body vice president Sufala, district assistant commissioners Naveen Chandra Amburi, Felci Fernandes, Rahul Tonse, Avin Kajekar, Mangaluru city local body secretary Mohini Ramachandra, state assistant organizing commissioner Bharat Raj, Adani Group’ AGM Ravi Jere were present.
