Mumbai: Mysore association organizes annual Sriranga Rangotsava

Mumbai, Feb 18: The 2024 annual Sriranga Rangotsava organized by Mysore Association Mumbai was inaugurated here on February 17 at the auditorium of Mysore Association on Bhavudaji Road, Matunga East. 

The programme presided over by Mysore Association Mumbai vice president Umesh Maskiri, Usha Desai (Sriranga's daughter) was the chief guest, who showered flowers on the portrait and lit the lamp and inaugurated the 'Rangotsava'. Association's organizer, veteran dramatist Dr B R Manjunath, Kamalaksha Saraf were present on the stage. 

Umesh Maskiri said this is an experiment that showed a new direction to theater. It is also an achievement to introduce the colorful life. Performance is more important than dramaturgy. He said that this is the motivation for social reform. 

Dr B R Manjunath said that watching drama is one thing. Writing is one thing. He explained about Sriranga's playfulness by saying that Sriranga conveyed what he liked through drama.

Usha Desai speaking not only Kannada, it is a festival of drama performances in Indian languages. He said that more language dramas will be staged in the coming days and let the dramas be moral for life.

A large number of theater fans were present and Narayan Navilekar welcomed, presented the programme and felicitated.

Produced by Ammi Rangakarmi and under the creativity and special guidance of World Konkani Award winner A G Kamat, the play was staged under the co-direction of Tonse Venkatesh Shenai and Krishna Chandavar gave the music direction Sudhakar Bhatt's stage lighting and background music by N S Kamath, T V Shenoy and Sudhakar Bhatt, the lead cast of the drama includes Harish Chandavar (Thimma Prabhu), Venkatesh Shenoy (Mashna Bhatt), Akshatha Kamath (Sharada Bhattinamai), Pramod Mallya (Chandrakanth), Dr. Chandrasekhar Shenai (Govindraiah Shenai) and Kamalaksha Saraf (Fondu) were acted. Archana Bhatt (Vinaya), Tanisha Bhatt (Swapnasundari) played the supporting roles.
