Kundapur, Feb 20: “Media is doing the work of systematically taking forward all the systems of the country. New changes have taken place in media. Media is working as the voice of public,” opined Dr H S Shetty.
Dr Shetty spoke after receiving honour in a programme that was held at Sahana Convention centre of Koteshwara organized by Kundapur taluk working journalists association. He further said, “New technology and digital media have entered the print media. Challenges of receiving them and marching forward is the current situation. Youth should inculcate the habit of reading.”
In the interaction that was held with journalists later, Dr Shetty said, “The current situation in coastal region is not complimentary for new industries to establish. I also have the thought of providing employment to residents of my native place.
“I will not enter politics. I am not serving people with that intent. It is possible to serve the society without going into politics. Politics is not necessary.
“Educational system should be strong. Government schools should be strengthened. Children should get quality education. I have experienced poverty myself. I studied in Bhandarkar’s college. I got job in a newspaper. I had an aim and worked towards it.”
Dr H S Shetty was felicitated on behalf of the Kundapur taluk working journalists association. President Nagaraja Rayappanamata presided. Treasurer Lokesh Acharya Thekkatte was present. Chief secretary Ganesh Beejadi welcomed. Raghavendra Pai read the honour letter. Sathish Achar Ullur spoke on the programme. Sriakara rendered vote of thanks. Chandrashekhara Beejadi compered the event.
