Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Feb 22: Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna has urged the chief minister to release a special grant of Rs 50 crore for the formation of a special squad to fight the drug menace in Udupi district and for the development of the region.

Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and sought the formation of a separate police squad to take stringent action against the rampant drug mafia in Udupi district.

"Students and youth are going astray due to consumption of drugs in various parts of Udupi district including Manipal which is specially recognised in the education system in the country. Therefore, it is essential to create a separate special force to effectively control drug trafficking," he said.

On the same occasion, Yashpal Suvarna also appealed for a special grant of Rs 50 crore for the comprehensive development of infrastructure in Udupi constituency.

He said the special grants will be used to fight sea erosion and  develop government schools besides using it to build a hostel building and also develop the rural roads.

Money and Police wont finish drug peddlars and drug abuse. The drug peddlars pay everybody in governance, and therefore, nothing can be done to them and their trade, Of course Students and drug addicts can stop buying drugs as the only way to stop these anti social elements. But the rich cannot be eliminated from TMA Pai's lucrative educational hubs. If the local Police and Law and the Judiciary had any governance or power, Mr. Yashpal Suvarna who is not an experienced nor a socially educated person, would have personally taken on these anti social elements with the available team of police who escort him daily for nothing, instead of asking Mr. Yeddu for grants to fight drugs, not to mention infrastrcture, that never sees the day lights despite of so many MLAs have come and and gone, instead the money will be pocketed by the local politicians themselves in the name of cheap quality development and infrastructure.

Punish all drug dealers and those who consume drugs heavily, automatically everything will stop. Like gulf countries the punishment should be very strict. The money recived from punishment will be more than 50 crores, will definitely improve the infrastructure and sea erosion..
