Lucknow, Sep 24: Acting on a tip-off by Thane (Maharashtra) police, a key member of Dawood gang was nabbed from Lucknow on Saturday. The criminal, was wanted in two murder cases by Thane police.
At Lucknow, the criminal had switched role and was living a lavish life of a successful builder rubbing shoulders with several politicians of the state.
The miscreant identified as Syed Wazir Hasan aka Allan is a native of Azamgarh. When the Thane police tightened its noose, he shifted base to Lucknow. From living in chawls in Mumbai, Hasan rose to become city's prominent builder within a span of five years.
In 2006, Hasan worked at a private medical store at a salary of Rs 3,000. He came in touch with local goons and became a small time criminal. "He then got linked with Dawood gang due to his nativity with Azamgarh as there were some other members who were of also of Azamgarh," incharge Surveillance Cell Sanjay Rai said.
Hasan was getting a five story apartment constructed in Thakurganj, Lucknow and even had started developing colonies at Hardoi road. The metamorphosis was possible only due to his close proximity with several MLAs and other influential persons of the state.
