Pune, Sep 26 (IANS) The friendly match between Pune FC and English premiership football club Blackburn Rovers, which was postponed due to blasts in Mumbai, will now be held here Oct 7 at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi.
The match was earlier scheduled for July 22 but was postponed over security fears after a bomb blast in Mumbai July 13 claimed more than 20 lives.
Pune FC Director Nandan Piramal said: "We are very happy to host them (Blackburn Rovers). The opportunity is great for the fans and on Pune FC's behalf I am happy to share this moment with the fans."
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has also given its clearance for the match after discussing with its marketing partners Reliance Industries-IMG.
The match will be held under lights but the kick-off time is yet to be finalised.
Rovers, which is owned by India's hatchery major Venkys, will be the the first English Premier League (EPL) team to play against an I-League side. Last year Pune-based Venkys acquired Rovers reportedly for 23 million pounds ($36.8 million).
