Mangaluru, Feb 29: The Entrepreneurship Development Forum (ED Forum) of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, recently hosted the ‘Brides of the Universe’ contest, showcasing the exceptional talent and creativity of makeup artists and stylists in the realm of bridal fashion.

Held on February 17, the event brought together participants, judges, and spectators to celebrate innovation and artistry in bridal design and styling.

Renowned makeup artists, beauticians, and proprietors of beauty parlours in Mangaluru, Sonia Dlima and Mercy Veena D’Souza, graced the event as judges. Sonia Dlima, a makeup artist and beautician with 28 years of experience, has garnered multiple awards in the beauty community, including the title of ‘Mrs. India,’ Karnataka, and the distinction of the most charming face of 2018.

On the other hand, Mercy Veena D'Souza, boasting 25 years of experience as a beauty therapist and trainer, is the proprietor of mercy beauty academy and ladies salon since 2010. She holds titles such as ‘Mrs. India’ Karnataka, Mangaluru, 2018, and serves as the president of All India Hair & Beauty Association (AIHBA) Karnataka, among other prestigious positions.

The contest featured 11 contestants and 30 makeup artists, all presenting a stunning array of bridal designs, each reflecting unique styles and visions of modern elegance.

The designs captivated the audience with their creativity and attention to detail, showcasing the skill and expertise of the makeup artists. The contest comprised four rounds of showcasing beauty and presentation, with winners being felicitated with cash prizes and crowns.

The winners of the contest are:

  • Winner: Meghashree (makeup artists: Moksha and Preethi)
  • 1st Runner Up: Arfa (makeup artists: Shazia, Arshee and Thwahifa)
  • 2nd Runner Up: Rachana (makeup artists: Rakshitha and Raksha)

The bridal contest at St Agnes College was a resounding success, highlighting the creativity, talent, and passion of participants in the field of fashion and style.

The invocation song was sung by Sannidhi, while the contest was impeccably compered by Mitchelle D’Souza, the secretary of ED Forum. Dr Devi Prabha Alva, the staff convenor of ED Forum, provided guidance and financial support, ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
