Kolkata, Sep 27 (IANS): A zonal office of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) in West Bengal was attacked Tuesday, police said, with one activist claiming that many people had been injured.
"No casualties have been reported," said West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Pravin Tripathi. But a party worker said that was not true.
The activist said Jamshed Bhavan was attacked by over hundred people. "Many workers have been injured. Around 45 of us have been locked inside the first floor. The miscreants are trying to set the office ablaze."
Clashes between Communists and the ruling Trinamool Congress have escalated since the latter took power in West Bengal in May, ending three decades of Left rule.
