Abu Dhabi: KCO Trust organizes throwball tournament

Abu Dhabi, Mar 5: As part of KCO’s annual sports event, KCO Trust (India) organized the KCO throwball tournament 2024 recently, which was held on February 25, at ISC Rooftop Abu Dhabi.

The event began promptly with a short introduction to the event, by the host for the event, Jason Correa who also leads as the KCO entertainment secretary. He thereafter requested all the dignitaries of the day to the stage: Vivek Serrao, president of KCO, Sandya Vas, general secretary KCO, chief guest: Michael D’Souza, the managing director of Ivory Grand Real Estate LLC, Dubai, ISC president John Verghese, ISC general secretary, Pradeep Kumar and Jairam Rai. All the dignitaries on the stage were felicitated with flower bouquets by KCO general secretary Sandhya Vas. The chief guest, Michael D’Souza who has been a long-standing social veteran, in his speech wished all the participating teams the very best and emphasized that sport and taking care of one’s wellbeing, is of utmost importance, in today’s fast pacing world.

The main sponsors for the event were Hyssna International, Abu Dhabi, Ivory Grand Real Estate, UAE, and co-sponsors were: Amigo Automotive Services, Abu Dhabi and Bright Winders, Abu Dhabi.

The KCO president, Vivek Serrao, in his presidential address welcomed all the members present, and thanked all the teams for attending the prestigious KCO throwball tournament 2024, he further acknowledged the immense support of the sponsors, through the years and thanked them for their belief in KCO’s social work.

As many as 11 teams participated in the all-day exhilarating tournament:

(five teams from men’s side and six teams from the women’s side)

The supporters and spectators enjoyed all the scheduled matches thoroughly, including the nail-biting finals, that were played with a blend of enthusiasm and sportsman spirit.

The final results were as follows:

Qualifiers Men:

  1. Konkan’s Dubai
  2. ACME Mangalore Strikers, Dubai
  3. CFU, Dubai

In the men’s qualifier 1, Coastal Friends UAE defeated ACME Mangaluru Strikers by 2-0 sets (scores: 15-10 and 15-13) to secure their place in the finals.

Finals

Konkans Dubai defeated Coastal Friends UAE by 2-0 sets 15-12, 15-6, to lift the KCO Throwball Championship 2024 in the men’s category.

Qualifiers Ladies:

  3. Bunts Dubai

In Ladies qualifier 1, Coastal Friends UAE, defeated Bunts Dubai by 2-0 sets (scores: 15-13, 15-8) to secure their place in the finals

Finals

Coastal Friends UAE, defeated ACME Mangaluru Strikers, by 2-0 sets (scores: 15-11, 15-5) to lift the KCO throwball championship 2024 in the women’s category.

Men’s Throw Ball:

Winner: Konkans Dubai

Runner up: Coastal Friends UAE

2nd Runner up: Acme Mangalore Strikers, Dubai

Ladies Throw Ball:

Winner: Coastal Friends UAE

Runner up: Acme Mangaluru Strikers, Dubai

2nd Runner up: Bunts Dubai

During the prize distribution ceremony, Sandhya Vas proposed the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, sponsors, referees, organizing committee, media personnel and all the teams who participated in the tournament.

The main referees Shiva Shetty and Daniel Pinto and the scorers Claudia D’Almeida and Sherine Rodrigues, were felicitated by the sports manager Valerian Fernandes, who also assisted in refereeing through the day, for their dedicated service.

The winning teams in both the men and women’s section, were awarded trophies, cash prize and individual medals, by the dignitaries present on the stage in a wonderful prize distribution ceremony.

The KCO Throwball Tournament 2024, was enjoyed by everyone present. The organizers did a meticulous job of hosting the sports event within the scheduled timeframe and with a zest of fun and sportsman spirit.
