Mangaluru, Mar 7: Amidst the resplendent aura of Carmel School, International Women’s Day was celebrated with fervour and reverence on March 7 by the students of grades 7 A and 7 B under the able guidance of their class mentors Radia and Shwetha.

The day commenced with the symbolic lighting of the lamp, signifying the dispelling of darkness and the illumination of knowledge and enlightenment. Sr Lilly Pushpa - the principal, Dr Praneetha Shetty, the chief guest, Dr Sr Prem - the administrator, Sr Premal, the vice principal graced the occasion, adding to the auspiciousness of the event. Their presence marked the beginning of a day dedicated to recognizing and honouring the remarkable deeds of women.

Following the lighting ceremony, prayers from various Holy Scriptures were offered, invoking blessings upon all women and seeking divine guidance in their journey. The atmosphere was filled with solemnity and reverence as intentions were voiced, resonating with the collective aspirations of the gathering. Through prayers and reflections, attendees acknowledged the strength and flexibility of womanhood, entrusting their hopes and passions to the divine.

The celebration continued with captivating performances and tributes to extraordinary women achievers who have left an indelible mark on society. Through dance dramas and heartfelt narratives, the inspiring stories of Indian women pioneers were brought to life, celebrating their triumphs and contributions across diverse fields. From para-athletes to scientists, from environmentalists to economists, each portrayal underscored the determinationand unwavering spirit of women. Dr Praneetha Shetty, in her heartfelt message, illuminated the intricate roles played by women and the profound sacrifices they make both within their homes and in society at large. With depth and sincerity, she articulated the myriad responsibilities shouldered by women and their steadfastpersistence in the face of challenges. From nurturing families to contributing to the betterment of communities, women's tireless efforts form the bedrock of society's strength and cohesion.

Zia and Abhinav compered the programme, Daksh and Kennith welcomed the gathering and Kiana and Shamam proposed the vote of thanks

In a heartening gesture of appreciation, the male staff of Carmel School organized a special evening programme for all the female teachers at 3 30 pm. The event was a delightful celebration featuring a prayer service, engaging games and prize distribution ceremony conducted by the principal. A highlight of the evening was the cutting of a celebratory cake by the principal alongside the entire lady staff. Hazel delivered a thought-provoking address, drawing from her own life experiences to inspire mentors to cultivate independence and foster happy homes filled with love, patience, and understanding.

The significance of International Women's Day was eloquently highlighted by Shilas, while Ashish efficiently emceed the programme, Mahesh extended a warm welcome to all attendees and the fun-filled games were arranged by Karunakar and Sathish. As the evening concluded, refreshments were served, fostering a sense of companionship and appreciation among all present.
