Udupi: MAHE hosts Yakshagana performance at two-day international conference

Udupi, Mar 8: As part of the two-day international conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, the directorate of research at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) recently hosted a performance adapted from the epic Ramayana, called Seethapaharana, which provided a glimpse into the world of Yakshagana. Artists of Theatre Yaksha (R), Udupi performed a captivating show on February 29, that balanced traditional elements symmetrically with contemporary perspectives.

The lyrics were composed by poet Partisubba, and the show was directed and choreographed by Dr Prithviraj Kavathar. 

The following artists were part of this performance: Vishwas Bhat Karbet (Bhagavathar), Skanda Konnar (Chende Player), Samarh Udupa (Maddala Player), Nagashayana Padakannaya (Violinist), Sunil Bhaskar Pallamajalu, Sasikiran Kavu, Shivananda Perla, Santhosh Panjikallu, Mahesh Bailur, Shravan Udupu, Uddbhav and Pramod Tantri (Costumes), and Nithin Alevoor (Lighting).

Dr Praveen Shetty, coordinator, CISD, MAHE introduced the artistes.
