Puttur: St Philomena College hosts workshop on ‘Innovate for Impact: Social Entrepreneurship’

Puttur, Mar 9: A day-long workshop titled ‘Innovate for Impact: A Journey in Social Entrepreneurship', was held under the auspices of the department of business administration, management association, and institution’s innovation councils, St Philomena College, Puttur recently. The event was inaugurated by J C Krishna Mohan P S, proprietor of Golex Enterprises and an alumnus of the college.

Principal Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, in his presidential address, emphasized the strategic role of curiosity and innovation in fostering effective business models. He highlighted the transformative potential of successful entrepreneurship in driving societal development and urged students to actively engage in the training programme to acquire practical insights into social entrepreneurship.

Krishna Mohan P S, in his inaugural speech, elucidated the diverse start-up opportunities in India and explicated various schemes supporting social entrepreneurship. He commended the institute for organizing a skill enhancement workshop focused on nurturing entrepreneurial insight among students.

The workshop featured three technical lectures covering essential aspects of social entrepreneurship. J C Krishna Mohan P S, as the resource person for the first lecture, provided insights into successful social enterprises, explaining crucial characteristics, and distinguishing factors between social impact and traditional businesses.

Madhuranath R, head of marketing at Slang Lab, Bengaluru, enlightened participants on social enterprise models, stressing the importance of aligning business goals with social concerns and exploring sustainable revenue models.

Dr Nandish Y D, associate professor of social work at Uppinangadi Government First Class College, delivered a lecture on emotional intelligence in social enterprise, emphasizing its significance in fostering empathetic leadership and effective stress management within the business realm.

Krishita and team rendered prayer. Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, dean and head of the business administration department, extended a warm welcome. Prashant Rai, management association coordinator, expressed gratitude. Rashi Rai compered the programme. Assistant professors Pushpa N and Abhishek Suvarna from the business administration department were graciously present on the occasion.
