Cabinet will decide whether to implement or reject CAA: G Parameshwara

Bengaluru, Mar 13 (IANS): Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara said on Wednesday that a decision will be made in the state cabinet meeting whether to implement or reject the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Parameshwara stated, the discussion is not made in this regard and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will take a call over the issue after holding the cabinet meeting.

Presently CM Siddaramaiah is on tour. The cabinet meeting was not held, it will be conveyed tomorrow (Thursday). A detailed discussion will be made in the cabinet over the CAA and final call will be taken.

“The people from Bangladesh and other countries have been identified and deported from Karnataka,” he stated.

When asked about whether Congress fears a setback with the implementation of the CAA, he stated, BJP is claiming it and they will have to make one or the other allegation against the Congress party. “Our argument is to save the democracy in the country. They put forward different arguments,” he said.

“BJP was sitting quiet all these days and now they have implemented it. They are using it for politics. Why did they bring it during the time of election? It is clear that they are doing it with an eye on the election. No rocket science is needed to see through the intentions. People have to understand this,” he stated.

Speaking about the controversial caste census report, Parameshwara said, the matter is not listed in the agenda yet. “We will discuss it. The government had spent Rs 168 crore for preparing the report, it can’t go waste. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had stated that he will present the report in the cabinet and he will take a call based on the decision made in the cabinet meeting,” he stated.

Dr Parameshwara acts like he is uneducated. The Citizenship is part of central list and not state list. Once a person gets citizenship you cannot drive him away. This statement is only a eyewash to appease certain section of people.

The sole purpose of CAA is to grant citizenship to persecuted minorities from three neighbouring countries only. These countries were parts of undivided India. The law has nothing to do with those born in India after partition.

Pluck some courage and reject it in Cabinet and announce it so please. Then we will ask, Constitution of India is applicable, or Karnataka Government abides by constitution or not etc including what your IAS officers advise you.

..no.. state can't do anything except politics and resolution against it..Central govt is sole authority for citizenship matters..same like defense, railways..state have no authority on these departments..state can go to SC..by the way, why they oppose..whats the matter..Govt want to give citizenship to most severely vulnerable minorities of 3 most religious fundamentally disturbed countries..if they want to others also, it will flood & then Indians may have to go to other countries..

Wealthy will find their way anywhere they want to and anytime they want to. Every country welcomes wealthy and rich. They dont need VHP or RSS. Then when it comes to poor, if they are migrating with tornments and sufferring, 1stly origin country itself, will stop them. So, there is no way they can get out. They know they will suffer more and consequences are more, if even they try. So, VHP or RSS helping anyone with CAA is a joke. They wont find any, so is a good headline to gain some mileage at no expense. If at all RSS, VHP really wants to help people, there are millions within India who are fighting for justice, inequality, crime and corruption. JnK pandits or Manipur tribes could be a good start.

Advani was born in undivided India, before Pakistan came into existence. His family shifted to India during partition. All those born in present day Pakistan before partition are Indians by birth. FYI Parvez Musharraf was born in India but shifted to Pakistan during partition and became staunch hater of India.
