Mumbai university Kannada department and Karnad Prathistana hold commemoration of K G Kundanagar

Mumbai, Mar 19: The Kannada department of Mumbai university and Dr Vishwanath Karnad Prathistana Mumbai jointly held a programme to commemorate professor K G Kundanagar, felicitation to Dr Vishwanath Karnad, annual award for the year 2023 and Vikas book prize distribution at Vidyanagari auditorium, Santacruz east on March 16.

Veteran technician and translator Y Venkatraj Rao, chief guest inaugurated the programme. Mumbai university head of Kannada department and professor Dr G N Upadhya chaired the programme. Janapada scholar Dr Kalegowda Nagawara felicitated Dr Vishwanath Karnad and congratulated him. He also presented the annual award of Karnad Prathistana for 2023 to dramatist Dr Bharath Kumar Polipu and congratulated him.

The guests presented Vikas book prizes 2023 to Dr Dinesh Shetty Renjala, author of Mumbai Kannada journalism research work, Dr Shamala Prakash, author of research work on the attachment of music in Kannada literature and advocate Amita S Bhagwath author of Neelinakshe novel.

Dr Kalegowda Nagawara released Neela Kamal translated work written by Dr Vishwanath Karnad and Sparsha, a collection of literary works at the same time. Kannada department research student Kala Bhagwath shared her opinion about the books. Dr Nagwara said that Dr Karnad is well known to Mumbai Kannadigas as teacher, researcher and author for decades.

Karnad Prathistana treasurer Sharath Karnad, Suchitra Karnad, Devamsh, Rohith Karnad, Neelima Rohith, Aradhya, Pallavi Karnad, Mitra Venkatraj, Devadas Shetty, Nityananda D Kotian, Omdas Kannangar, Petemane Prakash Shetty, Raju Shetty Kolyaru, Ashok S Suvarna, K V R Aithal, Mohan Marnad, advocate Amita S Bhagwath, Surendra Marnad, Kala Bhagwath and others were present.

The guests honoured Kala Bhagwath, Dr Uma Ramarao, Asha Suvarna, Devadas Shetty, Vidya Ramakrishna, K V R Aithal and Vidyananda S Karkera. Karnad Prathistana secretary Dr Poornima S Shetty introduced the felicities, compered the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
