Ahmedabad, Oct 1: Shweta Bhatt, wife of IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt of the rank of inspector general of police, who was suspended from service and later arrested by the Modi-led Gujarat government, is fearing for her husband's life. Sanjiv was arrested by the Gujarat police on Friday, September 30.
An emotional Shweta, speaking to TV channels said that she has written a letter to Gujarat director general of police (DGP) Chitranjan Singh and Ahmedabad police commissioner Sudhir Sinha stating that Sanjiv's life was under threat. She accused Gujarat police of denying permission to her and to Sanjiv's lawyer to meet Bhatt in jail.
Bhat was arrested on Friday on the basis of a complaint from police constable K D Pant, who alleged that Bhatt had forced him to support his allegation against Narendra Modi.
Sanjiv Bhatt had accused Narendra Modi, the Gujarat CM of complicity in 2002 Godhra riots.
