Kundapur: IMJ ISC observes World Sparrow Day

Kundapur, Mar 22: ‘World Sparrow Day’ programme was held under the joint auspices of literary society, readers' society and Lalitha Kala Sangha of IMJ College of Science and Commerce, Moodlakatte. The chairman of Kundaprabha Trust, U Surendra Shenoy was honoured for his 40 years of continuous service in journalism, education, literature, culture and concern for nature.

Inaugurating the programme by lighting the lamp, the guests said, "Sparrow, the world's beloved little bird, is an integral part of human life. Its lifestyle and its association with humans have recently decreased by 80%. We are the cause of this bird's destruction with modernity and technology, which destroys disease-causing insects in agricultural land and protects crops. Therefore, we should all work together to build small nests in our homes and gardens and provide protection to them."

On the occasion of this day, various competitions were held and the first place in essay writing and reading competition was won by the first BCA student, Sannidhi P Y and Rashita, and Ullas, the first BBA student, won the first prize in the art competition.

Principal Dr Pratibha M Patel in her presidential speech said that the power to shape the country is in everyone's hands. She said that the environment should be protected by using technology regularly. Vice principal Prof Jaysheel Kumar was present.

The programme was compered by Sahitya Sangha coordinator Prof Suman. BCA student Chetana conducted the prayer service. Coordinator of Readers Association Prof Pawan welcomed. Lalitha Kala Sangha coordinator Prof Archana Upadhyaya introduced the dignitaries. Prof Swarna Rani, head of BCA department, delivered the felicitation.
