Udupi, Mar 23: At the annual athletic meet hosted at ALN Rao ground, MGM College students showcased their ingenuity and culinary prowess with the establishment of a distinctive stall, adding a new dimension of excitement to the event. Offering a tantalizing assortment of homemade delicacies, the students' stall quickly became a focal point, enriching the festive ambiance of the sports day.
Visitors were treated to a sensory feast as they indulged in the diverse range of delectable foods prepared by the students. From traditional favourites to inventive culinary creations, the stall buzzed with activity, attracting attendees and contributing to the lively atmosphere of the occasion.
Prof Laxminarayana Karanth, principal of the college recognizing the students' initiative, highlighted the educational value of their participation, emphasizing the development of marketing skills and entrepreneurial acumen among the students. The students' involvement in both sports activities and stall management provided practical learning opportunities and instilled valuable lessons in teamwork and resourcefulness.
Arun Kumar HOD of chemistry, a faculty member, commended the students' dedication, noting the resilience and determination exhibited as they braved the hot sun to engage with visitors. Such experiences, he remarked, serve as invaluable learning opportunities, shaping the students' holistic development during their college years.
Suresh Bhat, SWC president said that every year we used to put the stall but this year we have added some fun games in every stall. Other than the stall and sports meet we are conducting different competitions like reel making and photography. He also said that students worked very hard from the past two to three weeks and their hard work has got a good result.
Under the supervision of Salini Shetty, a national athlete and coach, the sports day commenced with great enthusiasm, marked by an inauguration ceremony that included the felicitation of Tejaswini Udayakumar, a national cricketer hailing from the 1 BA stream. This recognition added prestige to the event, underscoring MGM College's commitment to nurturing both athletic excellence and a vibrant, inclusive campus community.
With participation from four streams in the sports events and enthusiastic support from a large audience, MGM College demonstrated its dedication to fostering a culture of sportsmanship and camaraderie. Beyond athletic prowess, the college's students showcased their creativity and culinary talents, enriching the sports day experience and leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
