Udupi: Cong candidate J P Hegde clarifies stance on language issue amid election campaign

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (JD/EP)

Udupi, Mar 23: "I have not hurt anybody in my political career and have always spoken with sincerity. I want to clarify that I have never commented on the language proficiency of BJP candidate Kota Srinivas Poojary," stated K Jayaprakash Hegde, the Congress party candidate for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru.

Addressing media reports regarding a perceived language controversy among candidates, Hegde emphasized that one can communicate in Kannada in the Lok Sabha as there are translators available. He added that while officials may require proficiency in English and Hindi for broader communication, his remarks were based on his experience as an MP and not directed at any individual. Hegde urged against misinterpreting his words or associating them with someone else's name.

"I have consistently approached elections with integrity and respect for my opponents. I have refrained from indulging in propaganda or spreading false information. My campaigns have always been based on my track record of service as a people's representative," Hegde concluded.
